Spencer Harrison, PhD

Assistant Professor – Organization Studies Department

Spencer Harrison joins the Organization Studies Department as an Assistant Professor of Management. Recently, Spencer has taught courses at Arizona State University on collaborative team work as well as lectures to executives on the role of curiosity in organizations. Prior to his academic career, Spencer worked as a consultant and instructional designer for Franklin Covey and as a change consultant for Maxcomm, Inc. Spencer has a B.A. in English from the University of Utah where he specialized in creative writing, an M.B.A. with an emphasis in organizational behavior from Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Management, and a Ph D in Business Administration from Arizona State’s W. P. Carey School of Business. Spencer’s dissertation research centered on the role of curiosity in work-life, specifying how states of curiosity emerge from surprise and examining how curiosity initiates learning behaviors that, in turn, influence performance and creativity at work.
