Stanley Shelton MSF ’86
Stanley Shelton was already an assistant vice president at State Street Bank when he entered BC’s MSF program. While his vocational skills were strong, he wanted to increase his academic understanding of finance. “Fundamentally, I was looking for more substantive knowledge,” he says. Shelton graduated in the first MSF class, in 1986. As an alumnus, he has watched the program grow in both size and quality. “The caliber of the students has always been strong, and it seems to improve every year,” he says. “A significant part of what I learned came from others in the class. And I think the level of discussion is even better today than it was when I was a student.” Shelton says he valued the chance to bring his job-related challenges into the classroom for analysis. “There was a direct relationship between the classroom and work,” he says. “The program was instrumental in helping me think through on-the-job issues. It’s a very strong, very practical program.”
