VOICES is the Journal of the Women's Studies Program of Boston College. An student-run publication, VOICES was restarted in the Fall of 2006 and is committed to publishing student research and essays concerning gender themes from a range of fields, including literature, sociology, psychology, art, history, and the sciences, as well as acknowledging developments in the news and popular culture. VOICES seeks to represent the academic voice of the students, faculty and staff of not only the Boston College Women's Studies Program, but also garners the writings of students across the University, on topics both local, national and global.
In the past, VOICES has been published biannually and in newsletter format. This year, VOICES is moving in a new direction as we seek to build upon our strong academic bases here at Boston College and publish a longer-length academic journal.
VOICES welcomes submissions from all students in all majors, given that their work focuses on a theme concerning Women's Studies. Students are encourage to submit papers originially written for other classes. Submissions should be under 5,000 words and sent to horbache@bc.edu. The deadline for submissions for the 2009 VOICES, to be published in Spring 2009, is February 8, 2009.
Additionally, VOICES is looking for people to assist with art, layout and editing works; editor positions are available for interested individuals. For more information concerning this, or any questions about VOICES, please contact horbache@bc.edu or piconen@bc.edu.
