Minor in Theology

theology department

The Theology Minor allows students to focus on a theme within Theology and to work on that theme with an internationally recognized theological faculty. For example, a minor might focus on the teachings and spirituality of the Roman Catholic Church; or a particular era in the history of the Christian Churches; or current ethical issues; or Jewish Studies; or the beliefs and practices of Hinduism, Buddhism, or Islam.

The minor chooses a combination of courses that will enable him or her to deal with the content and to assimilate the theological methods related to the chosen theme.

Requirements

  • The Theology Minor consists of six three-credit courses. One of these can also count toward the Theology Core requirement.
  • The remaining five courses will be chosen in keeping with a theme the student has selected in one of the areas or disciplines within theology.
  • Students will decide on this theme and the appropriate courses in consultation with the Director of Undergraduate Studies or, after consultation with the Director, with another faculty member.
