Graduate of Boston College Ph.D. Program Receives Best Book Award
Kristin E. Heyer, who received her Ph.D. in theological ethics from Boston College in 2003, received the College Theology Society’s annual Best Book Award for her work, Prophetic and Public: The Social Witness of U. S. Catholicism (Washington, D.C.: Georgetown University Press). The book is a revision of her B.C. dissertation, which was entitled “Public Theology and Political Advocacy: U.S. Catholic Theory and Praxis.” The Citation for the award states in part:
“The topic is as timely as they come and we recognize the sheer depth of study she brings to the question. She brings into dialogue major theologians and philosophers, particularly philosophers outside of the Catholic tradition. She applies these insights with such depth and dexterity that we think the book will prove a valuable resource for years to come.”
Dr. Heyer is Assistant Professor of Theological Studies at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
