Biographical Summary

A son of missionary parents, I was raised in the West African countries of Mali and Guinea. I attended three years of high school (Kenmore) in Akron, Ohio, where I captained the city championship football team and lettered in basketball. After undergraduate and graduate studies at Wheaton College in Illinois, I received my Ph.D. from Vanderbilt. My wife, Kathy, is a professor in the School of Theology at Boston University, and my son, Joshua, is a Ph.D. student in Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania. Other schools where I have taught: Baldwin-Wallace College, Boston University, and Holy Cross College. Personal interests: African travel, big-game hunting, and fishing.
