Elements of Dance

Fr. VerEecke studied dance at Santa Clara University and with Margot Parsons in Boston. He has a BA from Fordham University, a Master of Divinity from Weston Jesuit School of Theology and another master’s degree from Lesley University in Dance and Liturgy.

As director of the Boston Liturgical Dance Ensemble, his work has garnered local and national attention. His production of A Dancer’s Christmas has been a Boston holiday tradition for more than 25 years and has been featured in the local media as well as in Dance Magazine. His work in the integration of dance and religious expression is internationally known and he has given lectures and conducted workshops in the US, Canada, France, Australia, England, and Jamaica.

Fr. VerEecke has been Jesuit Artist-in-Residence at Boston College for the past 25 years. In 2002, he was the recipient of the Boston College Arts Council award for Faculty in recognition of outstanding contribution to the arts.

Fr. VerEecke teaches the Elements of Dance course during the academic year and also offers a two-week summer graduate course entitled, Dance: An Invitation to the Sacred.
