For Incoming Freshmen

Are you entering BC in the Fall of 2009?
Are you a "Theater Person"?
If so, welcome. We look forward to meeting you. There are a couple things the Theatre Department wants you to know -- even before you get here.
1. The Performance and Production Program.
The first week of school can be rather hectic and disorienting. We tend to hit the ground running, and we would love for you to join us. Please take note of the following important events that week:
a. General Meeting. On Tue 08 Sep (the first day of classs) at 4:30pm on the Mainstage, there will be a meeting for all new and returning theater students. You should attend this meeting. It will cover important information about theater at BC, the year ahead, and how to get involved -- onstage and backstage.
b. Auditions. At the end of the first week, the Theatre Department and two student groups -- the Dramatics Society and Contemporary Theatre -- will be having auditions for fall term productions. This includes the Department production of Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIGHT. Details about auditions are posted here.
2. The Theater Major and the Academic Program.
a. DSTP. If you are planning on becoming a theater major (or even seriously considering it), you should take CT062-01/Dramatic Structure and Theatrical Process in your first term. DSTP (for short) is the entry-level course for the major. Whether you come to one of the FYE (First Year Experience) sessions over the summer or the big one in the fall, tell the faculty advisor helping you sign up for courses that you want to take this course. (If it is full when you try to sign up, please contact Professor Scott Cummings.)
b. Theatre Majors Meeting. On Mon 14 Sep at 4:30pm on the mainstage, there will be a meeting for all theater majors, seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshmen. If you are a major or a possible major, you should attend this meeting. It will cover important information about academic programming for the coming year, including workshops, guest artists, and new courses.
