Faculty clusters are groups of faculty members with common areas of expertise who agree to serve on area examination committees on a regular basis. They are listed here to make it easier for graduate students to form committees for their area exams, as well as for their M.A. theses and dissertations. Keep in mind when viewing it that we do have faculty in specialty areas not included on this page and even the faculty listed below have other specialty areas not listed here. See Faculty Profiles page and their individual web sites for details. Students are also free to solicit faculty from other departments within Boston College and from other universities to serve on their committees.
For more information about the M.A., area exam, and dissertation requirements, see our graduate handbooks, in particular the Guide to Graduate Study. You can also see abstracts for recent dissertations on our Dissertation page.
