Graduate students at Boston College are quite involved in their respective fields as scholars. They read papers at regional, national and international conferences and many have had articles published. Funding to attend conferences is available from the Graduate School of A & S. The graduate students also organize an annual conference and publish the Romance Review which contains selected papers from the conference. Participants come from universities in the United States and from abroad. Many of our graduate students that have Teaching Fellowships are recognized each year for excellence in teaching by the Graduate School of A & S as recipients of the Donald J. White Teaching Excellence Award. The John C. Murray Center provides a variety of programs, services, and advocacy for all graduate students, including social events, leadership opportunities, educational support, and assistance with issues related to graduate student quality of life. The center serves over 4700 full and part time graduate students at Boston College. Each year the RLL graduate students elect a representative to the Murray Center to act as liaison between the department and the GSAS. The Romance Languages & Literatures Department has its own graduate student association (RLGA) which deals with issues specific to the department.
