PULSE Program

Notre Dame Education Center

Nature and Purpose
The Notre Dame Education Center (NDEC) is a community based organization that offers adults a solid educational foundation accompanied by respect, compassion and quality. The diverse student population reflects Boston's neighborhoods and cultures- with over thirty countries represented yearly- but shares a desire to initiate or continue their educational goals.

A "Place of Hope" for over 15 years, NDEC is dedicated to helping adults move forward with their lives. We believe that educational achievement is a major factor in a person's ability to gain economic independence and to become a productive citizen. To this end, each year we provide opportunities for hundreds of adults to complete their secondary education, to learn English and computer skills, and prepare for the U.S. Citizenship process.

Our academic programs include English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Adult Basic Education, Pre-Diploma, GED, and the High School Diploma completion program for students who have dropped out of high school.  We also provide career counseling, job training and placement programs, employability skills training, individual tutoring and English conversation sessions, and college transition support.

NDEC welcomes volunteers to play a role in our student's academic success.  A willingness to be involved in this process and a passion for education are required.  For more detailed information, please visit us on our website at: www.ndecboston.org
