Nature and Purpose
The Notre Dame Education Center (NDEC) is a community based organization that offers adults a solid educational foundation accompanied by respect, compassion and understanding. The student popluation represents thirty countries, with people from diverse cultures and neighborhoods of Boston coming to initiate or continue their education.
A "Place of Hope", NDEC is dedicated to helping adults move forward with their lives. We believe that educational achievement is a major factor in a person's ability to gain economic independence and to become a productive citizen. Therefore, we provide opportunities for hundreds of adults to complete their secondary education or to learn English.
Our academic programs include English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Adult Basic Education, Pre-Diploma, GED, the Academic Diploma Program for students who have dropped out of high school, the external Diploma Program for adults. We also provide Citizenship and computer classes, and volunteers lead conversation groups.
NDEC welcomes volunteers to play a role in our student's academic success. A willingness to be involved in this process and a passion for education are required. For more detailed information, please visit us on our website at: www.ndecboston.org
