Nature and Purpose:
COMPASS is a private, non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to serving children who have a history of behavioral, social and educational disabilities. We are a placement for energetic PULSE students who are interested in working with children in a challenging and rewarding environment. PULSE students are an integral part of our programs.
COMPASS offers PULSE Students the opportunity to work with high-risk, inner-city children in our day school in Jamaica Plain. This school offers comprehensive educational and clinical services to elementary, middle and high school students. At COMPASS, we see children who are trying to overcome unimaginable poverty, emotional disabilities and physical abuse. Our students climb emotional mountains by taking small steps day after day, helped along by our teachers, clinicians, caseworkers and PULSE interns.
