Joe Hellrung:
After graduation I accepted a volunteer teaching job with Nativity Preparatory
school in Boston, which was one of my placements as a council member. I taught
7th grade English, Spanish and Social Studies, coached Lacrosse, Cross Country
and Wrestling and was the volunteer coordinator and PULSE Supervisor. I had
an excellent experience, though by the end of the year I understood that teaching
was not my vocation. I am currently preparing for my first year at the University
of North Carolina Law School at Chapel Hill. I look back on my PULSE experience
as one of the most revealing facets of my collegiate career. I hope I can bring
the ideas of PULSE and the Jesuit philosophy to the law school environment.
