Cindy Hsu:
"Hi everyone, Life after Council has been interesting but my thoughts always seem to drift back to PULSE and Council. I hope that everyone is doing well. After graduation, I entered the Jesuit Volunteer Corps and began working in a soup kitchen in Brooklyn as an advocate. This meant getting people into shelters, detox, finding them jobs, referring them to various, social agencies, and advocating for people who were struggling with welfare reform. This last year has been an incredible one on many levels: building community with 6 other volunteers who inspire me and support me; redefining my view of God, and redeveloping my relationship with God; learning to live a simple lifestyle which is completely different from living cheaply; learning to really walk with those who suffer injustice. I owe this last year to PULSE. PULSE planted the seed that blossomed during JVC. PULSE ignited that passion and yearning for social justice. JVC fostered it and developed it even more. In many ways I have grown in the last year. In many ways I have lost the idealism that PULSE instilled in me. But I have also carried with me the values and lessons that I have learned through PULSE and Council. I often think fondly of Council and the friendships I formed. Unfortunately, I have lost touch with some of you and I would love to hear from all of you. So please email me at huscy1@hotmail.com. I would also love to get some type of reunion together. If any of you are ever in NYC, please look me up. I hope that everyone is doing well and finding joy wherever you are. Cindy"
