Academic Interests: I am interested in the cognitive and neural organization of the human haptic (touch) sensory system. Specifically, I am studying how the organization of our visual system can inform our understanding of the possible organization of our haptic system. This leads to question including; What sorts of information can be readily shared between these two systems? Do both sensory systems segregate and process information in a common manner? Are there structures which are essential for the processing of object or spatial information which operate independent of the modality of sensation? In a second line of research, I am involved in the experimental evaluation of sensory-substitution and sensory-aid technologies for the blind and visually impaired.
Undergraduate Institution/Degrees: University of Wisconsin, B.S. in 2000.
