Condensed Matter Experiment
The Department of Physics at Boston College invites applications for several outstanding candidates to join a major expansion in experimental condensed matter, with emphases on nanoscale integrated science, energy and photonics, each with a strong materials emphasis. Faculty members at all ranks are invited to apply, especially those interested in broad collaborations with a vision for the growth of the department and the integrated and applied sciences overlapping with cognizant disciplines. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in physics or a closely related field, with senior applicants having a proven track record of scientific and professional accomplishment. Successful candidates will be expected to develop or bring world-class research programs and contribute significantly to service and educational activities of the department.
BC Physics offers a rich condensed matter research environment, with theoretical and experimental strengths in applied and fundamental areas of correlated matter, nanophotonics, plasmonics, photovoltaics, thermoelectrics, mesoscopics, topological insulators, superconductivity, and physics at the bioneuro-nano interface (visit bc.edu/physics for more information). We are looking for a number of individuals who will establish vigorous research programs in applied and integrated areas within CME, in particular in materials and optics that will enhance existing basic and applied research efforts and form collaborative projects with colleagues in and outside the Department. Candidates will be judged on their research and teaching abilities, as well as demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary science and education in service to society, including diversity and equity. The successful candidates will be supported by nationally-competitive start-up packages.
