Placement of Graduates

Since 1969 when Boston College awarded its first Ph.D in Philosophy, doctoral graduates have received appointments at over 100 colleges and universities. Currently 126 graduates hold academic positions at such institutions as Boston University, University of Colorado at Denver, Fordham University, Hampshire College, Haverford College, University of Illinois, Marquette University, University of Massachusetts, University of Montana, State University of New York at Binghamton, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Pennsylvania State University, Seattle University, Skidmore College, University of Washington, Vanderbilt University, and Western Michigan University.

Our graduates also hold positions at international universities in Brazil, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Israel, Mexico, Morocco, Norway, Philippines, Portugal, Taiwan, Tanzania, Thailand, and the Union of South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates.

Since 1995 graduates have received positions at Baylor University, Jacksonville University, Loyola Marymount University, Nazareth College, Saint Anselm College, St. Augustine College of South Africa, Southwestern College, University of Dallas, University of Washington, University of West Georgia, Villanova University, Xavier University, Providence College, Santa Clara University, St. Joseph's University, University of Connecticut, Kuwait University, Saint Michael's, American College of Greece, University of Houston, College of Notre Dame (Maryland), Trnava University (Slovakia), Gwnydd Mercy College, Saint John's College (Santa Fe), Dalhousie University, University of Tennessee, University of Western Ontario, Boston University, Fordham University, Seattle University, California College of Art, College of the Holy Cross, Manhattan College, LeMoyne College, Colorado State University.

Seventy-five percent of our graduates, who were awarded doctoral degrees between 2000 and 2005, received full-time academic appointments; of those receiving degrees in 2005, 83% received full-time academic appointments.
