Open Faculty Position
Assistant Professor in Ethnomusicology
The Music Department invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Ethnomusicology, at the assistant professor level for a fall 2016 appointment. The primary responsibility is teaching undergraduate courses in Popular Music, American Music, and digital media arts. The successful candidate will have a doctorate, a record of excellence in undergraduate teaching, a well-developed research agenda, and will be able to demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, Boston College’s mission. The Boston College Music Department favors an integrated approach to the discipline that places popular music traditions within a broad cultural context and that emphasizes the interdependence of theoretical approaches and practical music making. The ideal candidate will be encouraged to forge interdisciplinary links with other departments and centers at the University, and develop the discipline of digital media arts.
