"I chose math because it was something I was good at, but my affinity grew into a passion at BC."

"I didn't realize how interesting and exciting math is until I started taking higher-level classes in it at Boston College," says Jill Cronin. The soon-to-be high school math teacher credits classes in applied mathematics with teaching her how to connect math to life, and theoretical classes with providing her new ways of thinking about and approaching math. The most valuable asset she's gained, though, may be her enthusiasm for mathematics, which, with the help of her double major in secondary education, she's "learned to convey to her future students."
