Dissertation Title: "Splintered Loyalties: The American Revolution in Essex County, NJ"
Dissertation Committee: Alan Rogers, Cynthia Lyerly, David Quigley
Education:
BA, Providence College (2000)
Research Interests:
While my broad interest concerns the formation of a new American nation and identity in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, my primary interests concern the motivations that sustained the American Revolution between 1775 and 1783. I see much of the Revolutionary population as being caught in the middle of struggle for political and military allegiance between the fervent Patriot camp and their British adversaries with each side offering different incentives, and I hope to examine when and why the majority of the population came to side with those seeking independence.
