Research Interests: 

History of the early modern Persian Gulf; Arab provinces of the Ottoman Empire; The Ottomans and British India in the Gulf; The position of the Arabian Peninsula in Indian Ocean networks; Gender, race, nationalism and hierarchies of power and identity; Modernization and the state in pre-colonial and colonial territories.
