Research Interests:
I am currently interested in the cultural history of postwar Britain, in particular the creative and political expression of West Indian artists working in London. Their work within mainstream institutions and their status as representatives of the growing migrant community in Britain usefully illustrate the priorities of both West Indians and the white majority, as well as the changing nature of race relations, on the eve of decolonization.
