Academic Profile

Professor Reinerman is at present involved in a long-term research project on "Austria and the Papacy in the Age of Metternich, 1809-1848." Upon its completion, he plans a study of popular responses to the Italian Risorgimento - in particular, popular counter-revolutionary movements in 19th-century Italy. He has taught graduate seminars and colloquia on 19th-century European history; on the Age of Metternich; on Modern Italy; and on European Diplomatic History. Professor Reinerman has received a Fulbright Fellowship, a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship, and a Mellon Foundation Fellowship. He serves as Executive Secretary of the Society for Italian Historical Studies and editor of its Newsletter, and is past president of the New England Historical Association.
