HS-082-01 Modern History II

spring semester

Sarah Nytroe

This course examines the emergence of the modern world through the political, social, and cultural development of the Atlantic community from the reign of Napoleon through the post-9/11 world.  Particular focus will be given to the Atlantic community and the changing ways in which people looked at themselves and others and to the shifting process of globalization as regions of the world became increasingly connected to one another via ideologies like nationalism and imperialism, world wars, and the Cold War.  Moreover, this course will also highlight the dynamic of violence and racism in the modern era.
