Meaghan Dwyer

Meaghan Dwyer is a Ph.D. candidate in American ethnic and immigration history and the archivist at Temple Israel, Boston. Her dissertation, “Ethnic Patriotism: Strategies of Identity Formation in Boston’s Irish and Jewish Communities, 1890-1929,” compares the efforts of these groups to balance ethnic culture with American loyalty. Meaghan is the co-author of Becoming American Jews: Temple Israel, 1854-2004 (forthcoming Fall 2007, with Lisa Fagin Davis and Susan L. Porter), and has contributed to New York Irish History, Foilsiu, Encyclopedia of Ireland, Dictionary of American History, and Encyclopedia of Irish-American Relations.
