Assistant Professor, Studio Art
The Fine Arts Department at Boston College seeks an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) to teach all levels of painting. Applicants should have a strong understanding of contemporary painting practices and additional expertise in teaching drawing from observation. A broad understanding of art history and a strong commitment to fostering the creative growth of undergraduates at a liberal arts university is expected. The department values a vibrant professional practice, excellence in teaching, and a willingness to contribute to the intellectual and communal life of the university. Service responsibilities include advising, committee work and assisting the management of the department. Applicants should have outstanding oral, written, and presentation communication skills. The successful candidate will be able teach all levels of undergraduate painting and additional courses in drawing and contemporary art practice. The typical course load is 3-2.
Applicants must have an MFA, a minimum of 3 years college teaching experience beyond graduate school, an active studio practice and a substantial exhibition record.
