FILMOGRAPHY
Concurrent with the photographic work, He has also served as Associate Producer
and still photographer for a series of four documentaries on conflict resolution
in these same areas:
Different Drummers: Daring to Make Peace in the Middle East
(2003: 54 min.)
This film presents a series of documentary portraits of several Israeli peacemakers
who lead the voices for a just and lasting peace and an end to the conflict.
Well-known Palestinians briefly reply to their concerns.
South Africa: Beyond a Miracle
(2001; 55 minutes).
This film chronicles the evolution of South Africa through the years of apartheid
to reconciliation, and projects what may happen next. The story is told through
South Africans who witnessed firsthand their nation’s transition from
apartheid to democracy. Both archival and contemporary footage is used. Many
of these ‘witnesses’ suffered greatly under the old regime, yet
each has forsaken revenge in hopes of building a better South Africa.
Unexpected Openings: Northern Ireland's Prisoners
(2000; 55 minutes).
This documentary presents the personal narratives of former prisoners, men who
have returned to society after 15 to 20 years in prison. Former and present
members of the Irish Republican Army, the Ulster Defense Association and the
Ulster Volunteer Force, these men were considered by some to be freedom fighters
and by others to be terrorists. In the film they share their reflections on
their confinement and describe their common epiphany: the realization that their
objectives could not be obtained through violence.
Prelude to Kosovo: War and Peace in Bosnia and Croatia
(1999; 52 minutes).
This film examines the historical background and events leading up to the bitter
civil war in the former Yugoslavia, presenting the perspectives of the Serbian
Orthodox, Bosnian Muslim and Croatian Catholics. The film addresses the ideology
of "ethnic cleansing" and the massacres resulting from a nationalist
quest for political, cultural and religious domination. Filmed in Serbia, Croatia
and Bosnia, the documentary inter-cuts newsreel footage and interviews with
religious leaders, refugees, NGO Organizations and political figures.
