Art Affiliates at Boston College
art, art history, and film
In its programming and ongoing commitment to provide students and the greater public opportunities to more fully engage with the Arts, the Art Department coordinates with numerous University offices, departments and programs. The following are those with which the department shares an especially close relationship.
The Boston College Arts Council works to increase the visibility of the arts at Boston College and to strengthen student involvement in the University's arts programs and community participation in arts events at BC. The Arts Council's signature event is the annual Arts Festival in late April.
The University's widely acclaimed Art Museum organizes and presents several exhibitions – and related programming – throughout the year. The Museum serves as a valuable resource for Fine Arts instructors and students, who not only benefit from studying the works in the museum, but also participate in the research and other activities involved in the mounting of a scholarly museum exhibition.
This journal explores religious experience and expression in the arts. Several Art faculty members serve on the journal's editorial staff.
The Jacques Salmanowitz Program for Moral Courage in Film is devoted to encouraging the production of film concerned with acts of moral courage, providing role models for youth worldwide. It serves as a resource for student filmmakers across the disciplines, providing advice and consultation, funding, assistance with distribution, and maintaining an archive of projects completed under the auspices of the program.
