2016 Greater Boston Intercollegiate Undergraduate Poetry Festival

Students selected by professors at 20 Boston-area colleges and universities will read from their own poetry at this annual intercollegiate poetry event. Simmons College Alumae Professor of English Afaa Michael Weaver will be the keynote speaker. The 2014 Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award and three-time Pushcart prizewinner, Weaver’s books include City of Eternal Spring (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2014), The Government of Nature (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2013), The Plum Flower Dance: Poems 1985 to 2005 (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2007), Multitudes (Sarabande Books, 2000), The Ten Lights of God (Bucknell University Press, 2000), and Water Song (Callaloo, 1985). In addition to his twelve books of poetry, Weaver is also the author of numerous essays, short fiction, and two plays that have been produced professionally.
