Trese is an Associate Professor of the Practice of English and the Director of Undergraduate Advising for the English department. She teaches "Coming of Age" (bildungsroman) texts in Literature Core, as well as the First Year Writing Seminar, including a renewed core pilot course on "Love, Gender and Marriage: Writing and Rewriting the Tradition" with Professor Franco Mormando in Romance Languages. She has taught in the Options Through Education summer transitional bridge program since 2002, and is deeply committed to supporting first-generation college students at Boston College. As Assistant to the Chair, Trese is the main contact person for students in the department, including declaring new majors and minors, course approvals, study abroad, and English internships. Her research interests include academic language acquisition in first-generation college students, as well as broader issues of equity and inclusion in higher education.
