Erika Hernandez '11
Erika Hernandez ’11 returned to the East Coast when she decided to attend Boston College, drawn by its academic and athletic programs as well as proximity to Boston. She decided to major in Communication and minor in Women’s Studies, successfully merging her interest in rhetoric and the influence of media with her interest in race, class, gender, and sexuality. This culminated senior year when she made a film regarding social issues.
Erika encourages students to “get involved with something that you are passionate about”. While at BC, she completed a summer internship at CNN, served as president of the AHANA (Asian, Hispanic, Africa, and Native American) Leadership Council, and played on the Women’s Rugby Club. Erika is now working with Teach for America as a high school math instructor.
