Curriculum Vitae


 

Elfriede Fürsich specializes in issues of journalism, media globalization and cultural studies. She has investigated the impact of globalization on media practice ranging from travel programs to business journalism and African Internet sites. Recently, she was invited by the UNESCO to write a background report for the upcoming U.N. "World Report on Cultural Diversity."

Her research has been published in U.S. and international academic journals such as Critical Studies in Media Communication, Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, International Journal of Cultural Studies and Broadcasting and Electronic Media.

In the classroom, she combines various methods of media criticism with an understanding of media economics. She has taught courses in Television Criticism, Globalization and the Media, and Mass Communication Theory.

In 2005, she was a Visiting Fellow at the University of Hyderabad, India. Originally from Germany, she also worked for newspapers and public television in her home country.
