This page was created to help Communication majors register for classes. It contains information about registration dates, degree audits, and the advising process.
REGISTRATION DATES. The registration dates for Spring 2010 (January-May 2010) are as follows:
- The class of 2010 (seniors) will register on Friday, November 13 and Monday, November 16
- The class of 2011 (juniors) will register on Tuesday, November 17 and Wednesday, November 18
- The class of 2012 (sophomores) will register on Thursday November 19, and Friday November 20.
- The class of 2013 (freshmen) will register on Monday November 30, and Tuesday December 1.
DEGREE AUDITS. The Communication Department has changed the way in which degree audits are distributed.
Freshman majors must obtain their degree audit from their academic advisers.
Beginning on Wednesday, October 28, Communication majors may obtain their degree audit from Ms. Leslie Douglas in 21 Campanella Way 513 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) Majors who are studying abroad or on academic leave can contact Ms. Douglas by email at leslie.douglas.1@bc.edu.
Please note: Communication faculty DO NOT have the degree audits. The only way to obtain your degree audit is to contact Ms. Douglas. Federal privacy law prevents the department from releasing your degree audit to a friend, parent, or significant other.
ADVISING. The Communication Department uses a tiered-advising system.
Tier #1. Informational advising. When you retrieve your audit, you will receive a registration guide designed for your class (freshman, sophomore, or junior), a list of course offerings, and a sheet with answers to frequently asked questions. An updated handout about the different areas of emphasis offered by department will also be available. To guarantee that this information is widely accessible, all advising materials will also be posted on this web site.
Tier #2. Group advising. The department will offer group information sessions for freshmen and sophomores. In addition to these class-based sessions, the department will offer area-based sessions (interpersonal and organizational communication, media and cultural studies, and rhetorical and public advocacy).
Tier #3. Faculty advising. All faculty members have contributed hours to an advising pool. If you would like to meet with a faculty member, you may schedule an appointment when you collect your degree audit or by emailing Ms. Douglas at leslie.douglas.1@bc.edu. When scheduling an appointment, you may request an appointment with the adviser identified on your degree audit, a favorite professor, or a professor who is available at a particular day and time.
