Graduate
Research Symposium
Every October, the research activities of the BC Chemistry Department
are showcased during the Graduate Research Symposium. This event
features seminar and poster presentations celebrating the accomplishments
of our graduate students. The Graduate Research Symposium is a
highlight of the academic year, as it includes reports of the
most exciting advances made in BCC research groups during the
preceding year.
Seminar
Series
BCC hosts a diverse seminar series that brings outstanding visiting
scientists from around the world to the department each year for
formal and informal interactions with all of the members of the
department. Weekly seminars highlight
nationally recognized speakers in organic chemistry, chemical
biology, and physical chemistry. In addition, the seminar series
is highlighted by our annual University Lectureship, which brings
world-class scientists to the department for a three-day visit
and seminars. BCC’s most recent University Lecturers include:

Industrial
Recruiting Program
Every year, BCC manages an Industrial Recruiting Program
that brings representatives of various companies to the Merkert
Chemistry Center to interview eligible students for post-degree
job opportunities. This program is available to all undergraduate
and graduate students as well as postdoctoral fellows at BCC.
Postdoctoral associates and graduate and undergraduate students
who are in their final year of study may participate during their
search for permanent positions. The recruiting
schedule runs from September through December for postdoctoral
fellows and Ph.D. candidates and January through March for B.S.
candidates. A few of the corporate partners who recruit at BCC
include Schering-Plough, Amgen, Merck, Novartis, Abbott Laboratories,
AstraZeneca, Sepracor, Roche, Millennium, Eisai, and Pfizer.
For more information about industrial recruiting, please contact
Ms. Dale L. Mahoney, Graduate Programs Administrator, at dale.mahoney@bc.edu

Free
Food Fridays
Several times a year, on Friday evenings, BCC faculty and graduate
students gather together for informal dinners on campus. Free
Food Fridays present opportunities to talk about research in an
informal setting; to socialize with members of other laboratories;
and to meet newcomers to BCC.
