The Chemistry Department at Boston College operates a program designed
to promote diversity in graduate education by bringing promising
undergraduates from diverse cultures to the BC campus for an in-depth
view of the doctoral program in Chemistry.
EMERGE will provide:
• Campus visit for a two-day program with travel, lodging and meal

expenses paid
• Information sessions covering such topics as coursework, teaching and

research assistantships, financial support
• Opportunities to meet with research faculty and socialize with graduate

students
• Tours of the department facilities and the Boston College campus and,

as appropriate, the Greater Boston/Cambridge area
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be eligible, applicants must be:
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident
• Currently enrolled seniors in, or recently graduated from, an
accredited
program in Chemistry
Applicants with a GPA of 3.4 or higher (out of 4.0) and whose participation supports the program goal of increasing diversity will be considered first.
