Computational Cluster

The Boston College Chemistry Department has a computer cluster that can be used for any department research that involves computational intensive calculations. The current configuration has both Macintosh and Linux nodes. The Macintosh nodes are dual G5 Xserves and the Linux nodes are a combination of Intel dual core and AMD dual dual core nodes. The entire cluster is supported by a 6.3 TB Xraid for data storage connected to the head node by a fiber channel. Jobs must be submitted to the cluster via a queue system, Platform LSF or LSF for short, on the head node xray.bc.edu. Any member of the Chemistry Department can request an account of the Chemistry cluster. A variety of software programs have been setup on the Chemistry Cluster including Gaussian03 and NWChem as well as a suite of programs for X-ray structure analysis. A complete list of software is available.
