Research lies at the heart of the Biology experience at Boston College. Our department, in Higgins Hall, is well-equipped for modern molecular, genomics and proteomic research, biochemistry, imaging and bioinformatics. Research programs in our laboratories investigate fundamental problems in the following topic areas.
- CELL & DEVELOPMENTAL BIOLOGY – Anthony Annunziato, David Burgess, Hugh Cam, Eric Folker, Dan Kirschner, Laura Anne Lowery, Thomas Seyfried, Ken Williams
- MICROBIOLOGY & INFECTIOUS DISEASE – Thomas Chiles, MJ Gubbels, Charles Hoffman, Welkin Johnson, Junona Moroianu, Ken Williams, Tim van Opijnen
- COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY & BIOINFORMATICS – Peter Clote, Michelle Meyer, Babak Momeni, Ph.D., Tim van Opijnen, Ph.D.
Our researchers take advantage of core laboratories with state-of-the-art instrumentation for fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry, well-equipped animal facilities, and substantial computational resources.
