March 2017: The department received NSF funding to purchase a $1.1million super resolution Zeiss Microscope.
October 2016: Graduate student Elizabeth Gray was recognized at 2016 SACNAS: The National Diversity in STEM Conference for her presentation "The Effect of Phosphorylation on the Localization of Centrins in Toxoplasma Gondii." She was awarded a SACNAS Student Presentation Award for her exceptional work.
June 2016: Dr. Danielle Taghian was awarded the Phi Betta Kappa Award from the Honors Society for positively influencing her students both inside and outside the classroom. Dr. Taghian is an assistant professor of the practice in the department, teaching courses in Molecular Biology as well as the Honors Thesis Seminar. Each semester the Biology department hosts a weekly seminar series, held each Tuesday in Higgins 310 at 3:00 p.m. See the 2016-2017 schedule for details.
