New Undergraduate Concentration: Bioinformatics
Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary field of study combining aspects of Biology, Mathematics, and Computer Science. For more information about this new opportunity for undergraduates please visit the Concentration in Bioinformatics homepage.
June 2016: Dr. Danielle Taghian was awarded the Phi Betta Kappa Award from the Honors Society for positively influencing her students both inside and outside the classroom. Dr. Taghian is an assistant professor of the practice in the department, teaching courses in Molecular Biology as well as the Honors Thesis Seminar. May 2016: Graduating senior and Biology major Grace Lisius won the 2016 McCarthy Prize in Natural Sciences for her Scholar of the College thesis titled "Vegetation Community Response to Hydrologic and Geomorphic Changes Following Dam Removal in a New England River." The award is given to those that exemplify academic excellence and substantial independent study in thier undergraduate fields. Grace will start at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in the fall.
