Stipend Payment distribution

Students receive their monthly stipend checks as "full-service" stipends (taxes are taken out before the check is directly deposited).  Funded students receive monthly payments throughout the academic year (September-May).  For summer stipend information see below.

NOTE: If a student acts as a Teaching Assistant for the full academic year, they will not receive a check for the month of January (that paycheck will be evenly distributed throughout the rest of the year).

Summer stipends:  If the student is on workstudy during the summer, the student will receive a mixture of monthly and weekly checks.  If a student is not on workstudy during the summer, the student will receive three monthly checks. Click here for information on applying for summer workstudy.

B.S./M.S. Funding

There is no guarantee that the University or Department will supply funding or tuition remission to B.S./M.S. students.  Students who are interested in applying should be able to secure funding through either personal funds, federal financial aid, or other outside funding.

Ph.D. to M.S. Funding

If a Ph.D. student transfers into the M.S. program, the student may be responsible for paying the remainder of their tuition costs from personal or federal funds and may not receive a stipend from the Biology Department.
