Biology Advanced Experience Courses

boston college biology department

Every advanced course will acquaint its members with the scientific literature in the field of the course. Advanced courses might be lectures, labs or seminars, but they will have one unifying and required thread - "the literature."

These courses will engage students in the reading and investigation of three types of literature: primary (peer-reviewed) literature, review literature and relevant databases. Students will learn about the format, content and form of each type of literature in the context of the course content. Students will read from each type of literature in the field of the course and be required to present oral and/or written summaries/analyses of one or more type(s) of literature in the field of the course.

Note:  Undergraduate Research will also satisfy the Advanced Experience Requirement.  Further Information about Biology Undergraduate Research.
