Photo by OMC.A major is a systematic concentration of courses taken in a given academic discipline that enables a student to acquire a more specialized knowledge of the discipline, its history, its methodologies and research tools, its subfields, and the areas of concern in which the discipline is presently involved.

Students may choose more than one major but, in each, must fulfill the minimum requirements of courses or appropriate distribution requirements set by the department and the College.
