Fulton Debate nationally ranked in fall standings

Based upon its performance at seven fall tournaments, the Fulton Debating Society of Boston College is ranked among the top 25 debate programs in the United States according to the latest rankings released by the National Debate Tournament Committee (NDT) and the Cross Examination Debate Association (CEDA). Fulton Debate is ranked 24th in the NDT rankings and 14th in the CEDA rankings. While both organizations base their rankings on the performance of teams at the same debate tournaments, they utilize different methods for calculating points, which results in the disparity in how teams are ranked. Fulton Debate is ranked higher in the CEDA rankings because CEDA counts a school's six best tournaments, whereas the NDT bases its rankings on the school's eight best tournaments. Since Fulton Debate has competed at only seven tournaments, it receives a lower ranking in the NDT standings compared to schools who may have attended eight tournaments.
