Mary Crane

Mary Crane has been appointed Thomas F. Rattigan Professor of English. Professor Crane has taught in the English department at Boston College since 1986. She received her BA, MA, and Ph.D. from Harvard University. She is the author of Framing Authority: Sayings, Self, and Society in Sixteenth-Century England (Princeton, 1993) and Shakespeare’s Brain: Reading with Cognitive Theory (Princeton, 2000) and the co-editor, with Amy Boesky, of Form and Reform in Renaissance England: Essays in Honor of Barbara Kiefer Lewalski (Delaware, 2000).
