Formal distribution of Woods College of Advancing Studies diplomas will take place in St. Ignatius Church.
St. Ignatius Church is located at the corner of Commonwealth Avenue and Fr. Herilihy Drive, directly across from the Boston College Green Line T stop.
Immediately after the University Commencement Ceremony, please walk to St. Ignatius Church lawn, right side facing the main entrance, where graduates will be asked to line up for the procession.
For the diploma ceremony, students should take their seats in the designated area in the front of St. Ignatius Church.
*Students should wear academic regalia—cap, gown, and hood.*
After leaving Alumni Stadium, students should proceed directly to St. Ignatius church and assemble under the tent on the church lawn, seperated by degree program. Families should go into the church and find seats in the general, unreserved pews.
Students and faculty will process into the church.
Undergraduate students will be seated on the left-hand side facing the altar.
Graduate students will be seated on the right-hand side facing the altar.
Students will be seated alphabetically within their degree program. As names are announced, students will approach by row, single file. Graduates will proceed to the center where the Dean will hand them their diploma and the Commencement photographer will take their picture.
Out of respect for classmates and families, all graduates must return to their seats after picking up their diplomas and must remain seated until the close of the ceremony.
Certificates of appreciation (Honorary Degrees) will be delivered at the end of the ceremony.
