A Message to the Part-time Student

How exciting a time!

Realizing that our ever-changing, globally connected world demands the breadth and adaptability of a liberal education, you are ready to engage in a dynamic process of intellectual exploration, personal growth and professional development.

For many, several years may have elapsed since you were actively involved as a student.  So expect some initial fears and self-doubts.  New ventures typically prompt a mix of excitement and anxiety.  You will quickly discover, however, that your inner determination and sense of purpose will allay fears and sustain your enthusiasm.  As you find satisfaction and fulfillment in reaching set goals, you will willingly embrace the personal sacrifice and self-discipline necessary for success.

Actively commit to this life-enriching opportunity.  Participating in class discussions and informal interaction with professors and classmates will expand your knowledge and sharpen your critical analysis and synthesizing skills.  Take part in Boston College’s vibrant and varied campus community and enjoy a ‘collegiate experience’ steeped in tradition and focused on the future.

The James A. Woods, S.J., College of Advancing Studies’ personnel, professors and fellow students are always willing to help make this a most successful and rewarding experience.

We look forward to serving you.

                                                                              James P. Burns, I.V.D.
