Boston College Internal Funding Opportunities

The purpose of internal BC funding opportunities is to assist BC faculty members in starting a line of inquiry and in competing for external funds.

Research Incentive Grants (RIG), are worth up to a total of $15,000 (including one month's summer salary). Every year at least 15 RIGs are awarded on a competitive basis. All regular, full-time, tenure-track faculty members are eligible to apply for these grants.

Research Expense Grants (REG) help to finance the smaller expenses of doing research. The maximum for a single REG is $2,000. All Boston College tenured and tenure-track faculty are eligible to apply for these grants.

Sponsored Funding Opportunities

There are a number of fellowships available to faculty, researchers, and graduate students at Boston College, including:

  • Sabbatical Fellowships,
  • other Faculty Fellowships,
  • Graduate Fellowships, and
  • Dissertation Support.

Faculty interested in securing external funding for their research should visit the searchable SPIN database. For assistance using SPIN, please contact Anna Dore at 617-552-8259.
