Since July of 2006 Bob has been a visiting scholar at Money and Values Project at The Marpa Center for Business and Economics at Naropa University in Boulder Colorado. For almost five years Bob was the executive director of the More Than Money Institute, a national non-profit committed to helping people align their money with their values as they live full and compassionate lives and make meaningful contributions to the greater good. A former Associate in Education at the Center for Moral Education at Harvard University, Bob has worked with individuals, communities, and organizations to identify and address the inevitable breach between their stated values and the reality of their lives. In addition to writing frequently for More Than Money Magazine Bob has appeared in publications such as Worth Magazine and Philanthropy Roundtable. Additionally, Bob has consulted with financial advisors, philanthropic planners, wealth counselors, community foundations, non-profit leaders and small business founders/leaders as they develop awareness and wisdom in relationship to their money and use it in creative, effective ways to help build a better world. Also known for his work training young people to develop the political skills needed to participate in the democratic process, Bob co-founded the New England Conference for Democratic Schools and has written extensively on the subject. His published works include numerous articles and the book, (published in English and Russian) Preparing for Citizenship: Teaching Youth to Live Democratically. Currently, he serves as chair of the Board of Directors of Democracy.org, a non-profit organization based in Seattle, whose mission is to promote education for democratic citizenship and assist individuals and organizations to make and act on decisions based on ethical principles. For eleven years, Bob consulted with executive directors of the Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Foundation in Washington D.C. to develop and implement an effective national prevention program. Based on this work, Bob testified in Congress to the Select Committee on Children, Youth, and Families on successful values-based programs. |
