Sampling

A test is a sample of behavior, products, or performances from a larger domain of interest.

We could never ask students all of the possible test questions about fourth-grade arithmetic. So, we select a sample of problems to represent the important parts of the domain.

A Test is Made up of Items

Items sampled from a domain represent the basic building blocks of a test.

There are two main types of items:
