The US Department of Labor Roundtable on Older Women Workers will highlight and address the unique challenges, needs, and opportunities that many older women workers face in the labor force. The event will cover workforce development (unemployment, education & training, and learning), working conditions, and economic security/retirement.

For much of the past two decades the role of gender in the retirement patterns of older career men and women has been more or less unremarkable. Most recently, however, gender differences have emerged among the Early Boomers. In particular, bridge job prevalence is higher among the Early Boomer women than men. To the extent that these gender differences continue in the years ahead, the challenges and opportunities of continued labor force participation later in life may differ by gender.
